Marshy area that is wet in winter and dry in summer. It attracts many birds in winter and during migration.
The Gariffi Marsh was the largest natural lake surface in the province of Ragusa on Sicily. It had an area of about 300 hectare. The area has been reclaimed and the waters exist only in the winter season and are due to the rains that fill this natural depression. With the onset of the summer the water evaporates, giving way to the dry bed covered with sparse vegetation of Mediterranean scrub.

Located close to the village of Santa Maria del Focallo.
