The town of Massarella is situated on the south west edges of a lake and marshland area called Padule of Fucecchio which is the largest internal marshland in Italy and is a protected nature preserve. From Massarella it is easy to explore the southern part of the marsh area and see birds like Veliki vranac, Bela roda,Siva čaplja, Velika bela čaplja, Kašičar, Mala bela čaplja, Čaplja govedarka, Gluvara and Eja močvarica.
