Description
This birding spot is conveniently located in one of the most connected areas of the city centre of Turin. You will mainly see water birds in or around the river Po, like Mala bela čaplja, cormorants, herons, Vodomar, Gluvara, but also redstarts, wagtails, and even Mandarinka.
There is a weir near the bridge Vittorio Emanuele I, where many birds aggregate all year round. It's very easy to walk from side to side using the bridges. It is possible to walk circularly around the bridges, from side to side of the river.
The north side (Murazzi) is made of concrete banks, where it's easy to get close to birds like Gluvara and egrets. The south side is greener and more isolated from the main roads. It allows the observation of more shy birds, like Vodomar, especially the Ignazio Michelotti park.
