Description

The Njarðvíkurfitjar site is a very short detour to or from Keflavik International Airport. Severni galeb and Islandski galeb can be seen at close range in winter along with Veliki labud and Divlja guska. Many ducks, Grivasta guska, Crnotrba sprutka, Zlatni vivak and Crvenovrata liskonoga can be seen on passage in spring and autumn.

Access

The Njarðvíkurfitjar area can be explored on foot or from a parked vehicle. Locals feed the geese and swans in winter and they can be very approachable. Spending just a few minutes here is worthwhile particularly for photography although an hour or more would be needed to walk around to the hides and stopping on the way.
