Description
The raptor watchpoint near Kalloni provides a great view over the valley southwards that mainly raptors and storks tend to follow northwards during their spring migration. You need to have a bit of luck, but if you're there during a peak migration event, hundreds and hundreds of raptors and storks can be observed. Common species that can be seen are harriers, like Eja livadarka and even Stepska eja, storks, like Crna roda and Bela roda, Riđi mišar, Steppe Buzzard, Zmijar, Osičar, Kratkoprsti kobac, Jastreb, Lastavičar, Siva vetruška, Morski soko, Belonokta vetruška and Sivi soko. Scarcer species can sometimes be seen within flocks of other raptors, like Orao kliktaš, Prugasti orao, Patuljasti orao and Krstaš.
The area surrounding the viewpoint is also good for typical inland species, like Modrokos, Sredozemna beloguza and Riđogrla strnadica.
