Description

Alexandros Salt Pans are clearly no longer used for salt production. There are several small lagoons by the beach at the south side and the tarmac road follows the beach. A good dirt track continues along the embankment all the way, finishing as a dead end after 2.4 kilometres.

I visited the site in September during high tide (a dozen of both Crnoglavi galeb and Dugokljuna čigra, Morski galeb, Velika čigra, Mali vranac and Veliki vranac, Mala bela čaplja, Šivačica), was somewhat surprised by the low number of birds, so I returned during low tide, only to find even fewer birds and not a single shorebird.

Local eBird hotspot also mention Svilorepi cvrčić, Daurska lasta, Kudravi nesit, Plamenac, Mala čigra, Siva čiopa, Morski žalar, Mala carska šljuka, Crvenonogi sprudnik, and Krivokljuni sprudnik.
