Beautiful birdwatching area with various biotope types. Forest, open pastureland, fen and lake.
Winderatter See is a beautiful and versatile area, which is accessible through various places. It offers many chances for nice birding at different times of the day and year. The pasture landscapes, reed beds, bodies of water and wet forest attract many birds. Almost 70 species of breeding birds alone. Among the birds that breed in the area are Mali gnjurac, Trstenjak crvrkutić, Rusi svračak, Veliki slavuj, Žuti voljić, Modrovoljka and Šumska trepteljka. Fire-bellied toads, tree frogs, newts and various species of butterflies and dragonflies can also be observed here.
From the village Winderatt you can drive to the car park at the end of the Winderattheck road. Click on the P in the map for directions. From there a 5 km long nature trail leads around the lake. Along the way you find several wooden shelters as well as information boards.. Scottish Highland cattle graze the area.
