Description
Teichgebiet Commerau is a typical fish pond area in the UNESCO-Biosphere reserve Oberlausitzer Heide- und Teichlandschaft (Upper Lausitian heather and pond landscape). This area, as many others in the reserve, mainly consists of a cluster of shallow fish ponds of various sizes and shapes. The ponds are usually framed by reed beds, in this area large enough to host even Brkata senica. The area is also home to wet alluvial forest areas. The variety of these habitats around these ponds is boosting also the biodiversity of other bird species. The Belorepan is the flagship and proud of the reserve.
