Nature reserve of heath and moorland near Rott in Nordrhein-Westfalen. The Struffelt is part of Naturpark Hohes Venn-Eifel.
Struffelt is a nature reserve of heath and moorland. The Struffeltkopf (450 m above sea level) gives the area its name. In addition to the heather moor, which provides a habitat for numerous birds, there is a forest and a reservoir right next to it. It would be difficult to discover fewer than 30 different bird species here. Interesting birds include the Crnoglava travarka, Šumska trepteljka, Crna žuna, Vatroglavi kraljić, Siva muharica and Crnovrata muharica.
Struffelt nature reserve is located 14 km southwest of the city of Aachen and just north of the town of Roetgen. At the entrance to the area there is a bus stop and a hiking parking lot (Wanderparkplatz Dreilägertalsperre, Jägerhausstraße, 52159 Roetgen). Press P on the map for directions to the parking. The circular walk indicated on the map is about 6 km.
