Description

Steinfeldsee is a former gravel pit that has been transformed into a valuable habitat for migratory birds, including geese, ducks, and sometimes rare bird species. The lake is not open for human activities like swimming or fishing, as it is dedicated solely to wildlife preservation. The lake has an observation platform from where you have good views of the lake and surrounding landscape. Birds that have been observed include Ribar, Nilska guska, Ćubasta patka, Riđa lunja, Gluvara, Labud grbac, Ćubasti gnjurac, Patka dupljašica and Crna roda.

Access

Steinfeldsee is located near the town of Hemmingen, south of the city of Hannover. The lake is accessible by car. Press P on the map for directions to a parking spot. There is no a circular route around the lake, but the 800m path along the lake is accessible.
