Description
The Schenkenwald forest is particularly good for some forest birds, that are much harder to find elsewhere in the region. No. 1 is the Crnovrata muharica. The forest has a lot of nestboxes and therefore a remarkably high density of Crnovrata muharica. No. 2 is the Srednji detlić. They are always there and chances are high, especially in winter. With some luck Mali detlić is also possible. No. 3 is the Vuga. Hard to see, but they are there. The best chances you have in the southern part of the forest.
Also mentionable are reliable Siva senica and quite high numbers of Riđa lunja and Bela roda in the surrounding fields. With some luck, Golub dupljaš is possible.

Access
The Schenkenwald is located west of the village of Baindt and south of the village of Wolpertswende. Just leave the B30 at the exit Baindt. Best option to park is at the roundabout just after leaving the B30. Press P on the map for directions to the parking. Then just walk to the forest and keep an eye on the fields. Prepelica are possible.
Note that the southern part and northern part are divided by a railroad. The only option is to leave the forest on the northern side and use the railroad crossing. Then you have to walk all the way down to the southern part. The route shown on the map is about 7 km one way. A bike is recommended.
