Description

The Oranienbaumer Heide nature reserve is one of the most species-rich areas in Saxony-Anhalt. Around 478 hectares of the nature reserve are reserved for undisturbed natural development. Large areas are taken up by semi-natural mixed deciduous forests, The central area of ​​the nature reserve is characterized by open and semi-open areas with dry and poor grassland, heaths, dunes with open grass areas and silver grass meadows. The nature reserve offers a range of habitats for numerous birds. Among the birds that can be seen in the area are Ždral, Riđa lunja, Osičar, Lastavičar, Pupavac, Crna žuna, Srednji detlić, Leganj, Šumska šljuka, Šumska ševa, Crnoglava travarka, Obična beloguza, Pirgasta grmuša, Rusi svračak and Veliki svračak.

Please note that you are not allowed to leave the main dirt roads. Keep at least 30 m distance to the horses and cattles and do not feed them.

The Oranienbaumer Heide is located southeast of Dessau. Click on the P in the map to get directions to a parking place on the northern side. You can also start your walk in Jüdenberg, on the east side of the area.
