Active sand and gravel mine, with a water surface of approx. 230 ha.
The gravel pond north of Negenborn is an active sand and gravel mining operation using suction dredging. The water surface, which is now around 230 hectares in size, is home to hundreds of water birds such as Divlja guska, Nilska guska, Indijska guska, Gluvara, Labud grbac, Veliki vranac, Siva čaplja and Velika bela čaplja, particularly in the winter months. One can also spot Liska, Žalar slepić, Ćubasti gnjurac, Ćubasta patka, Krivokljuni sprudnik and Veliki ronac.
Access is from the Negenborn - Abbensen road on the northern edge of Negenborn. There is a small car park there (marked on the map, press P for directions). You can walk or cycle along the north-west and north sides of the lake on a dirt road to the two viewing points. The rest of the lake is inaccessible because of the active mining.
