Description
Kiesseen Prettin is a body of water of 112 hectare located on the Elbe River near Prettin. Characteristic are the shoals and the sandbanks, some of which lie in the middle of the water. Almost 50 breeding bird species are known on the site. The waterfowl include Labud grbac and Liska. The vertical bank walls are inhabited by Bregunica, and Ostrigar breeds on the gravelly flat banks. Trstenjak crvrkutić, Trstenjak mlakar and Barska strnadica live in the reed beds, while Mali slavuj and Senica vuga live in the damp wood along the banks. The dry bushes are inhabited by Rusi svračak, Obična grmuša and Grmuša čavrljanka, while Vetruška, Vuga and Poljski vrabac breed in the trees. Jarebica, Obična travarka, Ćubasta ševa and Obična beloguza live on the ruderal and barren areas. The gravel lakes are also important for resting migrating waterfowl, especially Guska glogovnjača (tundranska), Lisasta guska, Riđoglava patka, Ćubasta patka and Veliki ronac.
