Description

Although situated right next to the village Gärnitz and a parking lot, this wet meadow in a large hollow offers a large variety of birds, particularly those found in wetlands. For example, you can find Vivak, Crnotrba sprutka, Sprudnik pijukavac, Sprudnik migavac, Barska šljuka, Velika carska šljuka, Bela pliska, Barska strnadica, Krdža, Grogotovac, Zviždara, Plovka kašikara, Mali gnjurac, Barska kokica and many more.

Access

Gärnitzer Lache is located 12 km southwest of Leipzig city center, next to the village of Gärnitz. You can park the car right next to the area (Press P on the map for directions). If you don't feel like walking you can watch birds right on the spot!

The area is also accessable by bicycle. It is a 20 minute / 5.8 km cycle from the Leipzig Miltitzer Allee S Bahn station, at the end of the S1 line.
