Description

The Kugelbake is a historic day beacon in the city of Cuxhaven at the northernmost point of Lower Saxony, where the River Elbe flows into the North Sea. The Kugelbake stands at a busy shipping lane and was once a vital nautical landmark. At this point, the estuary is about 18 km wide. Because the Kugelbake stands on the end of a dam and protrudes far into the water, it is a nice place for birding. You can overlook the beach, the harbor and the sea at the same time. Among the birds you can observe are Šarena utva, Grivasta guska, Kratkokljuna guska, Veliki labud, Mala lisasta guska, Morska crnka, Gavka, Baršunasti turpan, Crni turpan, Patka dupljašica, Veliki ronac, Srednji ronac, Sabljarka, Ostrigar, Srebrni vivak, Zlatni vivak, Velika carska šljuka, Šljuka kamenjarka, Velika sprutka, Bela sprutka, Crnotrba sprutka, Morska sprutka, Crvenonogi sprudnik, Riđogrli morski gnjurac, Belorepan, Planinska ušata ševa, Obična beloguza and Snežna strnadica.
