Description
Barker Heide is one of the few remaining heathland areas in the region. The area features sand dunes, moorlands, and nutrient-poor grasslands. It is a large area with many different bird species. It's a resting area for many waterbirds and songbirds, such as: Divlja guska, Šarena utva, Barska kokica, Mali gnjurac and Kanadska guska. In recent years, Ždral have repeatedly been seen in the area. Breeding birds include Rusi svračak, Velika carska šljuka and Šumska ševa.

Access
Barker Heide is located in the Segeberg district near the towns of Bark, Bockhorn, Hartenholm, and Todesfelde. You can access the area from either Bark, Bockhorn, or Hartenholm. Parking is available at the edge of the area. Press a P on the map for directions to a carpark. The area is also very easy to visit by bike. The circular route indicated on the map is about 8 km.
