Small lake, only visible from the west (dam) and southwest (trampling path), lots of nature around it. Occasionally exciting migrants at a further distance.
The Aalkistensee Nature Reserve covers 50 hectare, the entire area of the lake and beyond. The nature reserve is of great importance for regional bird protection. Breeding birds include Barski petlovan, Mali gnjurac, Trstenjak mlakar and Krdža. Obična travarka and Crnoglava travarka can be seen as migrants. Among the other birds you can see are Ribar, Veliki vranac, Riđa lunja and Crna lunja.
Car park south of the lake on the railway line, accessible from the road between Maulbronn and Ölbronn. Click on the P in the map to get directions. A circular path of 5 km runs from the parking lot down to the beginning of the dam, there to the east south of the lake, through the forest in a counter-clockwise direction around the lake. To see different habitats, a spotting scope is necessary for some birds.
