Description

Tbilisi Reservoir is divided in two parts. A smaller eastern part and a larger western part. In the western part you can observe different ducks (Gluvara, Čegrtuša, Mali ronac), gulls (Mrki galeb, Veliki crnoglavi galeb, Sivi galeb, Mali galeb) and terns (Dugokljuna čigra, Obična čigra, Belokrila čigra). In the eastern part near the strait wintering swans (Mali labud, Veliki labud) and even loons (Crnogrli morski gnjurac, Riđogrli morski gnjurac) can be encountered.

The shores of the eastern part are muddy and flat, so it is a good place for waders (Crvenonogi sprudnik, Sprudnik migavac, Ostrigar, Sprudnik ubojica, Barska šljuka). In the reedbeds you can find almost all species of herons, that live in Georgia (Siva čaplja, Velika bela čaplja, Žuta čaplja, Čapljica).

Open spaces, covered with grass on the shores of the reservoir attract larks, shrikes, pipits and birds of prey (including Sivi soko, Mali soko, Siva vetruška, Belonokta vetruška, Stepska eja, Stepski orao, Ribar).

In the coastal forests live woodpeckers (Seoski detlić, Mali detlić, Vijoglava, Crna žuna), tits, finches (Zimovka, Zeba) and even Krstokljun.
