Big wetland area. A mosaic of meadows and woods interspersed with canals and punctuated by small ponds that stretches over an area of more than 1230 hectares.
The Marais de Guînes was used until the beginning of the twentieth century for grazing and peat extraction. Now it is a nature reserve with a mosaic of meadows and woods that attracts many birds. Among the birds you can encounter are Eja močvarica, Obična kukavica, Lastavičar, Srednji detlić, Trstenjak rogožar, Trstenjak crvrkutić, Svilorepi cvrčić, Crnoglava grmuša, Siva grmuša, Strnadica žutovoljka and Barska strnadica.

Most easy part to explore is the trail 'Sentier des Têtards' near Village St Joseph. Click on the P in the map to get directions to the parking. From the parking you can make a 1,7 km circular walk that passes a bird hide.
