Description
Île d'Aix is an island of approximately 1.20 km2 with many different habitats. There is a fairly large forest, mainly composed of conifers, but also species of deciduous trees. Among the species present in this environment, you find Jelova senica , Ćubasta senica or Plava senica. During migration, Crnovrata muharica and Obična crvenrepka are very common. Some raptors are also present, such as Lastavičar or Kobac, and, more rarely, Jastreb. Other breeding species usually sing in the undergrowth, such as Obični popić, Carić, Drozd pevač and Crvendać.
Among the other areas of the island, there are large cereal crops, in which you can find other bird species, such as Španska kamenjarka, Fazan, Livadska trepteljka, Poljska ševa or Žuta pliska. Birds of prey are also present, like Vetruška or Mišar. In migration, you find other species such as Obična beloguza or Obična travarka. In winter, very large groups of Zeba, Severna zeba, Čižak and Zelentarka are formed in fields.
Finally, the last main environment is made up of marshes, in which different species nest, such as Vlastelica, Sabljarka and Šivačica. In Autumn and Winter, these marshes offer refuge for many species of shorebirds, notably Crnotrba sprutka, Mala sprutka, Crni sprudnik, Sprudnik pijukavac, Muljača, Velika carska šljuka, Velika sprutka and many others. At low tide, these birds generally feed on the mudflat which surrounds the island. Numerous gulls (breeding birds, migrants and winterers) are present on the island. You can observe Sivi galeb, Srebrnasti galeb, Morski galeb, Mrki galeb, Crni galeb, Obični galeb, Crnoglavi galeb and also terns like Dugokljuna čigra. Many other rarer species can be observed. The Riđa lunja and the Ribar are two migratory raptors quite present on the island in autumn.

Cette île d'environ 1, 20 Km2 possede un certain nombre d'habitats propices pour la biodiversité. ON peut notament observer les Sivi galeb , Srebrnasti galeb , Morski galeb , Mrki galeb , Crni galeb , Obični galeb , Crnoglavi galeb et Dugokljuna čigra pour les plus communs. Mais bien d'autres espèces plus rares peuvent être observées. Le Riđa lunja et le Ribar sont deux rapaces migrateurs assez présents sur l'île en automne.

Access
The island is only accessible by boat. Best option is the ferry leaving from Fouras. All year round a daily ferry service connects the island to the Pointe de la Fumée at the far end of the Fouras peninsula. The crossing takes about 20 minutes (for more info on the tickets and time table see the link below). The island itself you can only explore on foot or by bike. You can rent bicycles on the island.

Many rarities have been observed on the island. Some examples: the Američki crnoglavi galeb, present from August 24 to September 28, 2018, then from August 20 to 28, 2019. A Crni čvorak stayed from October 23 to 26, 2014. A Delaverski galeb stayed from October 20 to November 1, 2004, then another on February 10, 2018. The Šarenokrili azijski zviždak is also a regular, almost annual, island guest.
