With its 164 hectares this is the third largest lake of South Jutland. More than 180 bird species, have been recorded around the lake.
The Slivsø lake was drained in 1957-1959 to be used for agriculture. Fortunately, in 2004 most of it was restored. There are several small islands where birds can nest safely. Among the birds you can encounter are Belorepan, Vodomar, Grogotovac, Plovka kašikara, Šarena utva, Krdža, Ćubasta patka, Riđoglava patka, Patka dupljašica, Krivokljuni sprudnik, Polojka and Eja močvarica.
There are several parking lots giving you access to different trails. Click on a P in the map to get directions to that parking place. The path along the north bank is about 3.5 km long and brings you close to the lake and wildlife. From the old pumping station, which has been converted into a lookout tower, there is a view of the entire lake and its bird life.
