The Perenboomplas pond is attractive to birds that come to rest there temporarily, such as Kašičar and Mala bela čaplja.
The area of Oude Leie Gottem and the Perenboomplas consists of an old Leie meander where Svilorepi cvrčić breeds in the reed collar of this meander. In the winter period you can also sometimes find Veliki ronac and Ćubasta patka. Adjacent to the meander there is a newly excavated large pond where various wading birds forage such as Polojka, Vivak and Sprudnik pijukavac. During the spring and autumn migration you have a chance of just about anything that stops in the area for a while. Think of Sprudnik ubojica, Crni sprudnik, Vlastelica. The reed zone bordering the meadow is a breeding ground for Eja močvarica.
