Description
The Ooigembos is an old forest where forest anemones and bluebells still bloom, quite unique for South West Flanders. A walk through the forest and along the old meander of the river Leie leads through a varied landscape. In the Ooigembos you can find birds such as Veliki detlić, Zelena žuna, Kobac, Lastavičar, Crnoglava grmuša, Siva grmuša and Brgljez. Along the old Leie arm you will find water birds such as Čegrtuša, Ćubasta patka, Veliki ronac, Ćubasti gnjurac, Barski petlovan, Vodomar, Polojka, Veliki vranac and Čapljica.

Nederlands: Het Ooigembos is het enige historische bos in de Leievallei met veel voorjaarsbloeiers. Een oud bos waar nog bosanemonen en boshyacinten bloeien, vrij uniek voor Zuid-West-Vlaanderen. Een wandeling door het bos en langs de oude Leiearm voert door een gevarieerd landschap. In het Ooigembos kun je vogels als grote bonte specht, groene specht, sperwer, boomvalk, koekoek, zwartkop, tuinfluiter en boomklever vinden. Langs de oude Leiearm vind je watervogels als krakeend, kuieend, grote zaagbek, fuut, waterral, ijsvogel, oeverloper, aalscholver en woudaap.
