Description
Even the industrial/urban area in the north of this region harbours quite some good species in winter, like Zviždara, Čegrtuša, Ćubasta patka and Riđoglava patka. They can be common near te sewage works, as do gulls Mali gnjurac and Divlja guska.
In recent years Vodeni bik has become almost annual (often more then one) and some years Brkata senica turns up. There's a big breeding population of Trstenjak crvrkutić (>20 pairs) as do Svilorepi cvrčić and Barska strnadica in small numbers. In some years even Modrovoljka breeds here.
The meadow areas further to the south, especially those along the railway hold most of the time waders in late winter and spring. Muljača, Sprudnik migavac, Sprudnik pijukavac, Sprudnik ubojica, Žalar slepić (breeds some years), Crnotrba sprutka, Barska šljuka, Mala šljuka and others are seen annual. In winter this area often holds planinska trepteljka. In wet years species as Grogotovac and Plovka kašikara can be breeding here. Irregular breeders are Barska strnadica, Svilorepi cvrčić and Crnoglava travarka.
The area more to the south can hold Vodomar, Potočna pliska, Crnoglava travarka and the same species mentioned earlier, but chances on these are more remote.
