Description
Yeghvard Plains is a scenic open landscape north of Yerevan, combining farmland, grasslands, and patches of wild vegetation. This variety of habitats supports a rich diversity of birds, including Velika ševa, Poljska ševa, Velika strnadica, Stepska beloguza and raptors like Mišar, Vetruška and Lastavičar. The area’s open vistas, easy access, and abundant birdlife make it a rewarding and peaceful birding destination.

Yeghvard Plains is located just north of Yerevan, near the town of Yeghvard. It’s easily accessible by car via the H2 highway, with space to park along rural roads or field edges. Press P on the map for directions. While public transport to Yeghvard is available from Yerevan (bus 269 or marshrutka 254 from Alabyan/Margaryan stop), reaching the best birding spots requires a short taxi ride or a 40-minute walk from the town. The area is best explored on foot to fully enjoy the birdlife and landscape. Allow at least 2–3 hours for a rewarding visit, though longer stays can reveal even more species and seasonal activity.
