Vast grasslands on hills above the town Dilijan, close to cow farm and fruit gardens. Pastures border deciduous forest with a small river.
Ecokayan Fields are located in an agricultural landscape with rare bushes where you can find Prdavac, Prepelica, Golub dupljaš and a lot of passerines from May till September. There are Veliki detlić, Zimovka, Dugorepa senica and other forest species in the surrounding forests all year round.
During autumn migration from September to November different larks, predators, Pčelarica and Veliki svračak could be found.
The Ecokayan fields are located northwest of the town of Dilijan. You can reach the fields in three ways:
1. From Tbilisyan highway in Dilijan go to hotel "Ecokayan" (by car or by taxi). Then go on foot from ponds to the east, uphill to unpaved road about 100 meters. Then turn right and after 200 meters you will reach the first grassland.
2. Go to Artsah street in Dilijan (landmark is Altera houses) by car or by taxi. Altera is at the end of the paved road. Then you can go by foot app 1.5 km along an unpaved road or you can drive it. This road is suitable for all types of cars when it is dry.
3. You can reach this spot from Shamakhyan street in Dilijan. Go to Shamahyan Bus stop (by bus, car or taxi), then turn to the North, through the farm about 1 km. The road is unpaved but accessible for all types of cars. If you go by foot be aware of farm dogs. Not all of them are friendly.
When you reach the pastures, follow any unpaved road. The best way to explore the area is on foot because of the hilly landscape. It takes about 1,5 - 2 hours to explore all corners and biotopes of this site. Press a P on the map for directions to a parking spot.
