This Breckland reserve is managed by the Wildlife Trust to favour Prlivka, although other woodland and open ground species are present.
Breckland is a specialised local habitat that's particularly favourable to its star attraction, Prlivka. The adjacent woodland has a good selection of birds and nearby pastureland attracts corvids.
The reserve is open from mid-March through July, plus August, on request. Access to the reseve is on foot. There used to be an admission charge, but the visitor centre at Weeting Heath has been closed. The reserve will remain open to visitors and is now free for everyone, giving access to the hides. They do still run a programme of walks and talks at NWT Weeting Heath, which can be found on their website (see the link below).
Weeting Heath lies on the Hockwold to Weeting road and it's signposted. There is carpark, press P on the map for directions. Although bus number 40 between Thetford, Hockwold and Brandon passes the reseve gate, it's unclear whether the service would actually stop there. The reserve's postcode is IP27 0QF.
Prlivka are not guaranteed to be readily visible, if at all.
