New deepwater reserve at a former quarry, adjoining the River Severn and M50 motorway.
The deep water and islands of Uckinghall Quarry Nature Reserve attract numbers of wildfowl and waders in autumn when other nearby, shallower sites may have dried out. The area is liable to flood after heavy rain.
One mile west of A38 Tewkesbury to Upton road. Park sensibly in Uckington or Ripple and follow footpath from Bow Lane in village, or take Ferry lane to fishing pond and follow Severn towpath southwards. Expect motorway noise.
