2,500 hectares of tidal sand and mudflats at the eastern end of the Menai Strait. Good for winter waders and wildfowl.
At Traeth Lafan during winter one can see školjkarica, veliki škurh, rdečenogi martinec, spremenljivi prodnik and črna prosenka in large numbers. Also mali galeb, srednji žagar, mala bela caplja, močvirska uharica, mali sokol and sokol selec, travniška cipa and obalna vriskarica. Visit either side of high tide for best results (see link to the Tides table below).
By road, 2 miles east of Bangor. Head north of A55 on minor road. Click on the P in the map for directions. The route indicated on the map is about 4 km.
