Tothill Park is a Plymouth City Council recreation ground.
Now long filled in, Tothill Park was once a tidal creek of the nearby River Plym Estuary (see separate entry). As a reminder of it's past life on quieter Autumn/Winter days the sports fields at it's Eastern end can still hold a small flock of školjkarica sometimes even joined by one or two veliki škurh probing the soft turf of the sports fields. At the Western end the park is more formal in design, with mature trees around it's edge and more open grassland at it's centre with the occasional shrub bed, this Western end also has a tennis court and bowling green, whilst most of the birds are more common species the scrubland bordering the little used railway line along the Southern edge of the sports fields are worth checking for svilnica.
For the birdwatcher with more time also check out the cycle path by going under the railway tunnel on the South end of the central road, this elevated path eventually leads to the River Plym Estuary. Press stars on map for more information.
Tothill Park is a 20 minute walk from Plymouth City Centre (further West), for those arriving by car the long Lanhydrock Road that runs the full length of the Northern edge of the park gives free parking. Note all other roads in the area have resident only restrictions.
