Description

The Solway Firth is an extensive and remote area of saltmarsh, mudflats, sandy coast, dunes and reedbeds attracting a wide range of wetland birds. Breeding and passage waders include rdečenogi martinec, kamenjar, školjkarica and veliki škurh. Winter wildfowl and seabirds include žličarica, kreheljc, labod pevec, kratkokljuna gos, belolična gos, zvonec, gaga, and divers, grebes, and auks. Also look out for mala bela caplja, vodomec, poljski škrjanec, prosnik and travniška cipa. Otters are possible, plus seals, porpoise and dolphin offshore. At Grune Point the receding sea leaves tidal lagoons ideal for rockpooling.
