Half Moon Common - Court Copse is North West of the City of Southampton in Hampshire.
The area comprises of a large area of heathland with both deciduous and conifer woodland.
(*1), from around the car park area scan for overflying kanja, navadna postovka, skobec and rjavi škarnik. During the Summer Sršenar are sometimes seen. More open areas have can have duplar, carar, zelena žolna, travniška cipa, poljski škrjanec and hribski škrjanec. Gorse (Ulex) patches have palčja penica and prosnik.
(*2), Broadleaved woodland here hold dlesk, mali detel, brglez, dolgoprsti plezalček. In Summer divja grlica, sivi muhar, pogorelček, vrbji kova ek, črnoglavka and kukavica can all be expected. Birch (Betula) trees can attract repaljščica, grmovščica, vrtna penica, severni kovaček, mlinarček, repnik, kalin and dolgorepka.
(*3), Court Copse area, scattered scrub here on the North edge of the copse, have 'roding' sloka and 'churring" podhujka in the evenings. More open areas have travniška cipa and poljski škrjanec, scattered trees can have hribski škrjanec and drevesna cipa.
Be sure to check any scrubland for rumeni strnad, prosnik, repnik, rjava penica and mlinarček. Conifers around the site can have rumenoglavi kraljicek, rdečeglavi kraljiček, menišček, čižek and the occasional krivokljun.
Leave the M27 motorway at junction 2, on roundabout take exit signed Salisbury/Romsey/Fawley/A36, at next roundabout take second exit signed Salisbury/Plaitford/Wellow/A36. Continue on this road turning Left at sign for Bradshaw, pass over cattle grid onto Black Hill Road. Continue on this road and large car park (free) is on the Left.
