Floodplain on both banks of River Thames upstream from Oxford, with reedbeds, marsh and open water.
Chimney Meadows is a 300 hectare reserve, partly an NNR. Typical wetland fauna including otter, water vole, dragonflies, rjavi lunj, all three egret species, Mokož, trstni strnad, srpična trstnica, bičja trstnica, kobiličar, svilnica, Pegasta sova, močvirska uharica and škrjančar. Also prosnik, repaljščica and rumeni strnad. Flowers include adders tongue fern, vernal grass, tufted vetch, lady's smock and cowslip.
From Oxford take A420 west, after 18 miles go right towards Bampton, cross Tadpole bridge then right again to Chimney. For boaters, moor up near Shifford Lock.
