Also known as Sugwas Pools. A relandscaped and flooded former quarry network owned by the Duchy of Cornwall.
Extensive permissive footpaths (ie not rights of way) give access to Brockhall Gravel Pits with islands and sand spits. The latter attract waders in spring and autumn, plus the usual range of wintering wildfowl.
From Hereford take Roman Road A4103 west to Stretton Sugwas, then continue on minor road to main gate. There is also a layby on A438 at Sutton Pools, from here a public footpath leads to the site. Notices on site warn against swimming in the deep cold water.
