Here, on the border of Italy and Switzerland, you can hike around a reservoir and up to the top of the Monte Moro Pass to see bird species of the alpine hights.
Around lake Mattmarksee you can search for one of the most beautiful mountainbirds, the skalni plezalček, which likes to live near water. Other birds you can find here are planinska pevka, siva pastirica and planinski hudournik. From the lake you can walk up the mountain and see planinska kavka fouraging in groups near the "refugio", where you can also search for planinski vrabec. There is a chance of seeing planinski orel and brkati ser flying by.
On the Swiss side you can get here by car and walk. On the Italian side you can go up to Monte Moro by cable car or climb up by hiking. The walk from the lake up to the mountain has large rocks so you need good walking shoes and poles come in handy. Click on a P in the map to get directions to the starting point of your choice.
