Description
Krummi is one of the many interesting birding spots in the Grosses Moos Important Bird Area (IBA). The Grosses Moos wetland was drained giving way to a rich structured agricultural and cultural landscape. The fields are on a major migratory passageway and attract a great number of bird species especially in Autumn and Spring. Krümmi consists of a small wetland and extensively managed meadow and is surrounded by hedges and treelines that offer structure to the landscape. These landscape elements are the refuge for some farmland species that are now rare in Switzerland, such as the veliki strnad. It also offers refuge to less rare but vulnerable species such as rjavi srakoper , slavec , rumeni strnad and rjava penica. The small wetland is the breeding ground for vodomec , srpična trstnica , rakar. On passage kozica , močvirski martinec , zelenonogi martinec , mali martinec , and togotnik make a stopover. Rarer waders such as Temminckov prodnik can also be expected.
The entire farmland area around Krümmi is worth exploring and regulary produces scarce surprises, including: rdečenoga postovka , čebelar , močvirski lunj , dular. In the recent years the area has produced some raritioes including: lebduh , Prlivka , mušja listnica.
