Description
Utlängan is an island in the Karlskrona archipelago. The island is situated the furthest out to sea of any of the archipelago's islands. Utlängan is approximately 3 km long and 1.5 km across. The island covers just over 215 hectares. 329 bird species have been recorded at Utlängan. Along the coastal meadows and seaweed rich bays waders often rest. Most of them are found in early May and from late July-August. The most common species are: rdečenogi martinec, spremenljivi prodnik andkomatni deževnik. Many rarer species like ozkokljuni liskonožec, puklež and ploskokljunec are regularly found.
Utlängen is an excellent observation area for migration. Thousands of migrating belolična gos, grivasta gos, crna raca, beloliska, gaga, navadna čigra, žerjav, zimska raca and veliki škurh can be found. The area is one of the best in Sweden when it comes to migrating waterfowl.
The island is a last stopover in Sweden for many migrating passerine birds during migration season. Large amounts of severni kovaček (has been seen in the thousands), čižek (Has been seen in the thousands), škorec and rumenoglavi kraljicek can often be found. The area is often visited by rare eastern warblers like kraljičica, mušja listnica and pisana penica. Other rare passerine birds sometimes found are kobilar, vrtni strnad and rdečeglavi kraljiček.

Access
To get to the island you need to take a ferry from Yttre Park. Parking can be done there. Click on the P in the map to get directions to Yttre Park. The ferry goes a couple times a day (see the link below for time table). Utlängans harbour, called Stenshamn, is an island in its own right and is linked by bridge to Utlängan proper.
