Description
Sjötorpasjön is a good place to see wetland birds during much of the year. The surroundings (deciduous forests and farmland) are also interesting. Among the breeders are čopasti ponirek, labod grbec, rjavi lunj and in some years bobnarica,rjavovrati ponirek and brkata sinica. Other breeders in the neighbourhood are rjavi škarnik , mali detel, dolgorepka and rumeni vrtnik. During migration periods large flocks of siva gos , kanadska gos , mlakarica and kreheljc stay at the lake, often including the odd duck or goose species.
From the birding tower you may see several raptors, especially kanja, koconoga kanja, rjavi škarnik, črni škarnik, ribji orel and belorepec.
