Description
During winter most of the Norrbysjön lake is covered in ice, but where Motala ström meets Norrbysjön the water is ususally open year round. During this period large flocks of liska, veliki žagar, mlakarica, čopasta črnica, labod grbec, kanadska gos, srebrni galeb and zvonec can be found. Often numbering in the hundreds. Within these flocks rarer wintering birds like čopasti ponirek, priba, labod pevec, dabbling ducks, mali ponirek , beločela gos, škorec, sivka, and veliki kormoran can be spotted. The large amounts of wintering birds attract birds of prey like belorepec, kanja, and pepelasti lunj.
When the ice melts large amounts of pipits, larks, geese, labod pevec, and sometimes mali labod, use the fields around the lake as feeding grounds. The lake is usually filled with many dabbling ducks, gulls and terns. Husbyängarna are often flodded, and usually hold wading birds like puklež, rdečenogi martinec, komatni deževnik, priba, and zelenonogi martinec. The reedbeds around the lake are now filled with birds. Some rare birds who are sometimes found around the lakes are bobnarica, trstni cvrčalec, brkata sinica and rakar. Some rare terns and gulls like mali galeb and črna čigra pass the lake during the spring migration.
Some rarer breeding birds at the lake are rakar, bobnarica, jerebica, mali detel, kosec and vodomec. Norrbysjön is and excellent area for night active birds. Around the lake kosec, prepelica, kobiličar, veliki slavec, rečni cvrčalec, močvirska trstnica can often be heard at the lake.
During autumn large amounts of geese start to visit the lake again. Many more passerine birds can be found on the fields. Among these snežni strnad, laponski ostroglež and rdečegrla cipa are often found. Hundreds of zlata prosenka can often be found on the fields. Sometimes marine ducks like crna raca and beloliska stay at the lake.
