Description

Ingarö is mostly a forested island in Värmdö. Centrally on the island there is a relatively large connected open area with arable land and pasture. This area is called Norra Säbyfältet. The area attracts birds mainly during migratory periods, probably due to the fact that it is the only larger open area in the whole of Ingarö. A good area for birding in Värmdö. There are several good places to stand with good overview or you can make a walk through the fields. Among the birds you can see are žerjav, krokar, kukavica, rumena pastirica, zlata prosenka, dular, komatni deževnik, mali deževnik, kupcar, veliki srakoper and komatar.

Access

This area close to Stockholm can be reached by car, bicycle or bus. Drive from from Brunn towards Björkvik's jetty and taking a left towards Ingaröstrand. After about 1 km you then turn right towards Stora Barnvik and after about 400 m opens arable land on the right side. There are a number of pockets along the way to park in. After another about 400 m, a tractor track goes straight out into the field. This track goes out to the ditch that runs across the fields (Återvallsbäcken). Make sure to park so that traffic is not disturbed!
