Fulufjällen national park is one of the most southern fells with a bird community that is otherwise found further north.
Fulufjället is huge and the below map shows only part of it. Some birds can therefore also be found elsewhere in the national park but it will require a couple days of hiking to explore every corner of the park. Close to the parking lot you will find the Naturum (visitor center) with all the necessary information about the area. Around here there is also a high change of encountering the very curious and the not at all afraid of humans zlovešča šoja, which will feed out of your hand if you present them anything delicious.
If you follow the Njupeskärs trail you will after a 15 minute walk come across Njupeskär, Swedens largest free falling waterfal, here you could encounter komatar, pogorelček and kupcar. Some years arktični sokol can be found around the waterfal breeding. If you move up the mountain and on top of the plateau you might just find belka, barjanski jereb or zlata prosenka. Continue to the Rörsjön cabins and the lakes surrounding them and you can come across crna raca, srednji žagar or polarni slapnik. This trail from the Naturum to the Rörsjön cabins and back is about 9 km long. It is possible to rent cabins in the park and there is a restaurant close to the Naturum.
There are several entrances into the park. The entrance to the Naturum can be found by driving past Särna and turning left, follow the signs to Fulufjället. The road gets steep as you basically drive up a mountain, drive therefore carefully especially on rainy or cold days. There are a lot of parking spots here but it might still get crowded, especially during summer, best times to visit are therefore before 10 and after 16.
