Description

Cueva del Moro is rock in the Sierra de la Plata. Famous among birders because of the rare swifts ( gibraltarski hudournik and mali hudournik ) which formerly bred in Cueva del Moro. But you must be lucky to see them nowadays, although they are still observed. Easier to see is the colony of nesting beloglavi jastreb and the puščavec. Other birds you can observe here include sokol selec, skalna lastovka, egiptovski jastreb and during migration kačar, mali orel, Sršenar and črni škarnik. Don't forget to explore the surrounding habitats which are also rich in birds.

Access

Cueva del Moro is located 25 km west of Tarifa. Click on the P in the map for directions. It can get busy in the weekends. Note that there are signs on the way up to the Cueva del Moro warning that it's a military road but the existence of official noticeboards here indicate that access is not banned. The cave itself is high above the road and has ancient rock paintings.
