Description

ETAR Alverca (Salinas de Alverca and the Salinas do Forte da Casa) is part of the Tagus Estuary. The area is a mix of lagoons, salt pans and agricultural fields in extensive regime. The Salinas de Alverca e Forte da Casa are located on the north bank of the Tagus Estuary and are the only refuge for the avifauna on this entire bank of the river. The surrounding area is heavily urbanized and industrialized. That's why this wetland attracts a lot of birds. Among the birds you can see are duplinska kozarka, žličarica, tatarska žvižgavka, plamenec, polojnik, črnorepi kljunač, brškinka, lebduh, mali ponirek, priba, mala bela caplja and žličarka.
