The Rozwarowo Marshes are a great place for bidwatching with many special birds species. It is the last spot to see povodna trstnica in central West-Europe.

Description

The Rozwarowo Marshes are a bird refuge of European importance. This area was incorporated into the Natura 2000 network because of protection of the povodna trstnica. This is a species endangered on the world’s scale. The Rozwarowo Marshes play a key part in the population of povodna trstnica. It is the last place in central-west Europe where you can spot the povodna trstnica or his other cousins living in the reed fields. There are larges areas of swamp surrounding the village where you can see water birds and many other birds and species.

Apart from povodna trstnica, the marshes are the breeding areas of bobnarica, črna štorklja, Sršenar, črni škarnik, rjavi škarnik, močvirski lunj, rjavi lunj, pepelasti lunj, mali klinkač, grahasta tukalica and žerjav. Among visitant species are zlata prosenka, spremenljivi prodnik, togotnik or močvirski martinec.

Access

You can get to the marshes with bicycles from Kamien Pomorski (12km) or with your car to the village of Rozwarowo,. Drive slowly through the villages and between them because of people walking those village roads, bicycles, the wild life crossing and village dogs and cats. You can park in the village and walk to the bird watching place at the canal and water pump responsible for the maintenance of water levels in the reed fields. You can watch there the povodna trstnica and other reed warblers and alies are. (Acrocephalidae) You can also see žerjav , siva gos, veliki kormoran, bela štorklja, labod grbec, repnik, Pegasta sova and many, many more.

In order to explore the marshy landscape of this part of Poland you can follow the 100 km long Szlak nad Bałtykiem i Zalewem Szczecińskim trail. It leads from Wolin through Koniewo, Mierzęcin to the village of Piaski Wielkie on Lake Piaski. Further, it goes to Sibin and Dusin towards Kamień Pomorski. See the link below.
