Description
Jezioro Zygmunta Augusta (also called Czechowski Lake) is an old reservoir. On the southwestern shore of the lake is the village of Czechowizna. The lake has a size of 500 hectares and the shores have large reed beds. The reservoir is used for breeding carp. Many birds are attracted to the lake especially during migration periods. Among the birds you can encounter are belorepec, rjavi lunj, sivka, žličarica, žvižgavka, dolgorepa raca, kreheljc, labod pevec, priba, mali galeb, črna čigra, poljski škrjanec, rumeni strnad and rakar.

Click on the P in the map to get directions to the village of Czechowizna. You can make many stops along the shores of the lake. A circular route is about 10 km long. However, the most covenient way is to use a viewing point marked on the map.
