Description
In the area of 2125 ha, including the vicinity of Lake Turawskie, the special bird protection area PLB160004 'Turawski Reservoir' was established. There are at least 24 species of birds listed in Annex I of the Birds Directive in the bird refuge. The Turawski Reservoir is one of the most important refuges for migrating birds in the Opole region. In autumn and spring, big groups of up to 22,000 individuals stay on Jezioro Turawskie. Among the birds you can see are siva gos, beločela gos, Njivska gos (serrirostris), mali deževnik, mali ponirek, čopasti ponirek, veliki žagar, črnovrati ponirek, priba, žerjav, trstni strnad, rumeni strnad, rjavi lunj, belorepec, many species of ducks and birds of reeds, see the birdlist below.
