Small city park with a little pond offering a good chance to spot a Spotless Crake.
This park with its little pond is known as one of the best spots in Auckland to spot Spotless Crake when they come out from the reeds and small island. There are often also phenotypic Pacific Black Duck (highly hybridised with Mallard in NZ) and Brown Teal on the pond.
The Michaels Avenue Reserve lies in the suburb Ellersie of Auckland and is approximately 15 minutes by car and 45 minutes by public transport from the CBD. You can park on Michaels Avenue next to the reserve. The tracks are paved and you get to good spots by foot or wheelchair.
