In Poelbroekpark and the Meerwijkplas you will find lakes, reed hedges, pools, flowery grasslands and lots of birds. One of the most special birds that occurs is the bobnarica, but very hard to see. These birds will much easier to find: mali ponirek, modra taščica, slavec, Mokož, kukavica, močvirska trstnica and vrtna penica. Other birds you can see here are reglja, žličarica, konopnica, žvižgavka, mlakarica, kreheljc, tatarska žvižgavka, sivka, čopasta črnica, veliki žagar,kozica, vodomec, žličarka and trstni strnad.

Nederlands: Poelbroekpark en de aangrenzende Meerwijkplas is één van de rijkste natuurgebieden in de stadsrand van Haarlem. Je vindt er water en riethagen, poelen, bloemrijke graslanden en heel veel vogels. Een van de meest bijzondere vogels er voorkomt is de bobnarica, ook al is die wel heel moeilijk te zien en moet je daarvoor ook een portie geluk hebben.
