"De Regulieren" is a semi open to open landscape, consisting of pastures, small forests and damp meadows. The central part of the area consists of open pastures with cattle. The surroundig fences are often used by travniška cipa and prosnik. Pairs of kreheljc can also be found in the small ditches between these pastures. If you're lucky, you can hear prepelica from within these pastures. Sometimes large herds of roe deer can be present. In the surrounding forests, species like severni kovaček and vrtna penica breed and in the higher bushes species like mlinarček and rjava penica can be found. Also, kukavica and kobilar breed in small numbers in the area. The area contains small patches of reedbeds, which are used by srpična trstnica.

Many birds of prey make use of the area as hunting and breeding habitat. Many kanja and navadna postovka can be found in the central part of the area. škrjančar hunts on dragonflies above the wet pastures and, if you're lucky, you'll encounter a Sršenar. Also, rjavi lunj uses the area to hunt for prey.

In winter, the central part of the area is low in numbers of birds. Sometimes, large flocks of brinovka and vinski drozg can be found here. The forests are used by mixed flocks of tits and finches. Small numbers of rumenoglavi kraljicek can also be found within these flocks. The surrounding pastures of the area are often used by large groups of velika bela čaplja.

Access

There are two parkingspots (see P on the map) to access the area in which you'll be able to make a circular walk of about 4 km. Almost all of the trails are unpaved roads and on most of them you'll just walk on grass. After a rainy period, these roads can be very wet and dirty. There are several vantage points around to take a look over the central part of the area.
